Privacy Policy

1. No Text Is Ever Collected

Every feature on RealWordCounter — word count, character count, readability analysis, keyword density, platform limits checker, UPSC presets — runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to our servers. We have no server-side processing of any content you type or paste into our tools.

The only place your draft is stored is your own browser's localStorage, which is accessible only by you on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

2. What We Do Collect

We collect minimal, anonymised data to understand how the site is used:

• Page views and navigation paths — via Google Analytics (anonymised IP). This tells us which tools are most used, nothing about content.
• Device and browser type — to ensure compatibility and fix rendering issues.
• Country and region — to confirm we are serving our primary audience (India) correctly.

We do not collect: your name, email address, text content, uploaded files, IP address (full), or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily submit our contact form.

3. Contact Form Data

If you send us a message via the Contact page, your name, email address, and message are processed by Web3Forms and delivered to our inbox. We use this data only to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your details with third parties.

4. Cookies

We use only one first-party cookie: a theme preference stored in localStorage (light/dark mode). This is not a tracking cookie and contains no personal information.

Google Analytics may set anonymised analytics cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

5. Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics — anonymised usage statistics
• Google Fonts — the Inter typeface is loaded from Google's CDN
• Web3Forms — contact form submission processing

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We have no control over their data practices and encourage you to review their policies directly.

6. Children's Privacy

RealWordCounter does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal data via our contact form, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Since we store no personal data beyond voluntarily submitted contact form messages, there is very little to request. However, you may:

• Request deletion of any contact form message you submitted
• Clear your browser's localStorage at any time to remove your saved drafts
• Opt out of Google Analytics using the link in section 4

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
